about
“Ordered in aisles, all locked up in grids
The days are glass jars, with holes punched in the lids...”
Produced by the band's keyboardist Matty Vehl and mixed by Nick Herrera (Haitus Kaiyote; Nai Palm), Glass Jars is the second single from the upcoming, debut self-titled Cool Explosions album, releasing Thursday 14 March 2019.
From the outset, Glass Jars catapults into a citadel of frenzied samples and involuntary 8-bit outbursts. Immediately we are aware of our new surrounds – the beat is a driving insurgency of trip hop neurosis, punctuated with bolts of restless step-sequencing. Amidst tumbling whorls of synths, lead singer Elle Young's vocal delivery keens and beguiles with an effortless, nascent soul. Glass Jars is a gasp of frayed agitation, frantically eyeing for an exit, and its blood is most definitely up.
lyrics
Glass Jars
Don’t you ever wonder?
Don’t it cross your mind?
If there might not be some part of us, somehow
That gets left behind?
Pressed against the cyclone fence
Weeds all through the beds
Some thought lost, caught round Atlantis -
Self Storage sheds
Ordered in aisles
All locked up in Grids
the days are like jars
With holes punched in the lids
Oh my love
The circuitry is so well hid
We lower our eyes
Without realising it
There’s a bottleneck of serpents
That wasn’t there before
You say one thing and seem to mean
A whole lot more
I can feel it in the pauses
The advance of designs
You got your uniform
And baby I got mine
Ordered in aisles
All locked up in Grids
the days are like jars
With holes punched in the lids
Oh my love
The circuitry is so well hid
We lower our eyes
Without realising it
Barrelling down the line,
handles rock like masks dropped for oxygen
I blink my eyes -
and oh, here we go again
Ordered in aisles
All locked up in Grids
the days are like jars
With holes punched in the lids
Oh my love
The circuitry is so well hid
We lower our eyes
Without realising it
